Nancy Pierson, co-creater and trainer of American Bowen Academy's Instructor Training Program and past president of Bowenwork Academy USA, is a certified Bowenwork practitioner and registered Bowenwork instructor and has been a bodyworker since 1990.
Her warmth and sense of humor and lively, down-to-earth communication style generate a sense of knowing that one is in "good hands," whether in the classroom or on the therapy table. Nancy grew up in Houston, relocating to Austin to attend The University of Texas, where she received a BBA in marketing. After graduating she returned to Houston and worked as a technical book editor. A move to Santa Fe brought experience in marketing for a bank holding company followed by fundraising for The Santa Fe Opera. Her ten-year stay culminated in attending the New Mexico Academy of Advanced Healing Arts, where she studied massage therapy. After leaving Santa Fe, Nancy lived and worked in Austin until 2009, when she moved to NW Arkansas, home base for her workshops on the Bowenwork technique. She also travels to conduct the workshops on request.
Nancy is a registered massage therapist, a continuing education provider in Arkansas, and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.
Born in Weingarten, Germany, Karin moved to the United States at the age of 21. An array of colorful jobs from one corner of the US to the other sharpened her focus to bodywork, where for more than four decades she has sought ever-more direct routes to change and healing. Once she discovered Bowenwork, she loved the simplicity, effectiveness, and elegance of that work.
Karin became a Bowenwork practitioner in 1995 and a Bowenwork instructor in 2000. She has been practicing and teaching Bowenwork exclusively ever since. Karin started the Bowenwork School and Center in Carmel, California, and travels throughout the US to teach.
Karin brings confidence and a straight-forward demeanor to her classes and to her Bowenwork practice. Her enthusiasm for the work is underpinned by her drive to help people effect deep and significant shifts in their lives.
Her warmth and sense of humor is coupled with a communication style that makes learning fun and informative while maintaining a high level of professionalism. She strives to accommodate every student's learning style and ability, which creates an atmosphere of ease and focus.
Karin's mission is to support every student in accomplishing their goals, whether it is to help their family and friends or to start a new career in the healing arts. They may want to change their current healing modality to prevent overuse injuries, or add to their already existing practice modality, such as massage, chiropractic, physical therapy, traditional medicine, naturopathic health and nutrition.
Karin is fascinated by the mind-body connection, and how Bowenwork addresses the whole person beyond the physical into the emotional and energetic disturbances. Parallel to Bowenwork she studied Process Inquiry and currently is enrolled in energy medicine training with Uwe Albrecht, founder of InnerWise.
