Instructor Training Program
Phase 1: Associate Instructor Training Program – Orientation to Full Instructor Training Program
Orientation is a 4-day training that will enable both the candidate and American Bowen Academy to make a mutual determination if becoming a Band 1 instructor, eligible to teach Modules 1-6, is a good fit. Further, a participant’s successful completion of Orientation earns the designation of Associate Instructor (AI), enabling the AI to teach to the public the 4-hour course Bowenwork: An Introduction to Wellness in Your Hands.
Attendance at Orientation gives 16 hours of Practitioner Day credit ($395 value). After successful completion of Orientation, 10 free manuals are received, with which to conduct intro classes ($950 value). The cost of Orientation is $800.
The associate instructor need not ever move forward to become a Band 1 instructor. However, if a Band 1 instructor is in the sights of the AI, the following steps must be completed.
Phase 2: Independent Study
Independent Study (IS) can be taken any time before Bootcamp – either after Orientation or before, depending upon timing. IS is an online course on the anatomy of the procedures, ethics in the teaching profession, learning styles, overview of other modalities, needs of the adult learner.
Phase 3: Bootcamp
Bootcamp is a 7-day intensive with the American Bowen Academy instructor trainers and the other participants to give practice and instruction in teaching all the procedures in each module.
Phase 4: Practicum
The practicum is a co-teaching experience with an experienced instructor.
Phase 5: Commencement
After successfully conducting a review day prior to a module 7, and showing student proficiency in the Module 7, Band 1 teaching contracts with American Bowen Academy and Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia will be awarded.
